More about Wrigley Field
Wrigley Field is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Chicago, having entertained generations of fans since it opened in 1914. Located in Chicago’s aptly-named Wrigleyville neighborhood, Wrigley Field is in the middle of a residential area, making it hard to find Cubs parking unless you book ahead with ParkWhiz. The stadium was originally known as Weeghman Park when it opened, hosting the Chicago Whales of the short-lived Federal League. After the Cubs moved to the stadium in 1916, the Wrigley Family gained control of the team and renamed the venue Wrigley Field, a name that it has maintained to this day. Wrigley Field was also home for the Chicago Bears from 1921 to 1970 prior to their move to Soldier Field. The Friendly Confines was also the site of Babe Ruth’s called shot in the third game of the 1932 World Series, which paved the way for the New York Yankees to win the championship. The home of the Cubs is one of the few remaining ballparks to utilize a hand-turned scoreboard; the others are Fenway Park and Oracle Park. Following the team’s 2016 World Series win and recent stadium renovations, it can be difficult to find Cubs parking on game day. The best play to make is booking Wrigley Field parking in advance with ParkWhiz.
