Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago
Chicago is a modern city, born from the prairies and the plains, but still flying into the future like a red-eye 747 flight out of O’Hare. As it moved forward, the city needed a place to house its artistic expressions of modernity, and it found that vessel in the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. The Museum was originally founded in 1967, but after rapid expansion it was relocated from Ontario Street to a much larger building on E. Chicago Avenue in 1996, right where an armory once stood in the Gold Coast. In the past and up into the present, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago has featured works and collections by several well-known artists, including Andy Warhol, Francis Bacon, Jeff Koons, Frida Kahlo and most recently an exhibition by David Bowie. The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago does not require charge for admission, though it readily accepts donations. Though the lack of an admittance fee makes the museum itself stress free, parking can be stressful if you can’t find a spot. Luckily, you can book a Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago parking spot ahead of your visit, making your visit to the museum as seamless as possible.
