More about Chase Field

Phoenix is one of the warmest cities in North America, averaging 99F during baseball season. The coolest way to deal with the heat in the Valley of the Sun is by booking Chase Field parking ahead of time with ParkWhiz. Chase Field opened to the public in 1998, hosting one of the then-newest MLB expansion teams, the Arizona Diamondbacks. The ballpark was designed with the heat in mind, as it is the third baseball venue in North America to have a retractable roof. The venue cost $364 million in total, and opened under the name “Bank One Ballpark” until the naming rights were inherited by JPMorgan Chase, who named Chase Field. The ballpark is conveniently within walking distance of Talking Stick Resort Arena and Phoenix Convention Center. A unique feature of the park is a pool in the right-center field, which can be rented by visitors for a fee. A second distinguishing attribute at Chase Field is the keyhole near home plate, one of two modern stadiums with the feature; the other is Comerica Park. Chase Field is also home to the annual Cheez-It Bowl college football game. The event originated as the Copper Bowl in 1989 at Arizona Stadium in Tucson before relocating to the ballpark and then relocated again to Sun Devil Stadium in Glendale in 2006. The event stayed in Glendale before moving back to Chase Field in 2016. Before Kellogg’s began sponsoring the game as the Cheez-It Bowl in 2018, the event was previously known as the Domino’s Pizza Copper Bowl, Insight Bowl, Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, TicketCity Cactus Bowl and the Motel 6 Cactus Bowl. Notable events at the venue included three games of the 2006 World Baseball Classic, the 2011 All Star Game and the 2017 NL Wild Card where the Diamondbacks hosted the Rockies. The popularity of the team can make it hard to find convenient Arizona Diamondbacks parking, but if you book ahead of time with ParkWhiz you can chill out and enjoy the game.
