About Warner Theatre
Among the many destinations for visitors in Washington, D.C., there is a dizzying array of historical landmarks, cultural institutions and music venues to choose from. The Warner Theatre manages to be all three at once while still evolving with the times, making it important to book Warner Theatre parking in advance of the show. The venue came about as the Earle Theatre, which was planned by Aaron and Julian Brylawski in 1922, opening in 1924 with a design by architect C. Howard Crane. The theatre originally showed first-run movies and vaudeville performances before Warner Bros Circuit Management Corporation purchased its management company in 1928, becoming film-only in 1945. The venue was renamed to the Warner Theatre in 1947, and in 1953 it was renovated to accommodate Cinerama widescreen projection. This upgrade proved to be useful as several major motion pictures premiered at the theatre, including Camelot, Doctor Zhivago and Hello, Dolly! during the 1960s. The Warner was renovated again in 1977 with improvements made to the stage. The building’s exterior became a Washington, D.C., historic landmark in May 1983, with the interior also gaining the designation in August 1985. Another renovation followed in 1989 after the Kaempfer Company gained ownership of the theatre, which reopened in October 1992 as a music venue, with restorations made to match the original décor. The theatre’s ownership changed to CBRE Global Investors in December 2018. The theatre notably features a Walk of Fame in front of the building. Two important concerts to happen at the theatre include the secret show by The Rolling Stones in 1978 and in 1992, when Frank Sinatra performed for the venue’s reopening ceremonies. The venue has consistently brought the finest entertainment to the nation’s capital while changing with the times, so it makes sense to book Warner Theatre parking ahead of time with ParkWhiz.
