About Prospect Park
New York City’s Prospect Park is a wonder of human design and ingenuity, a defiant Brooklynite answer to Manhattan’s Central Park that brings millions of visitors every year, most of whom will require a Prospect Park parking spot. The question of automobile traffic in the park is a divisive issue, but it was never a serious problem until the last century. With a pre-history reaching back from the Revolutionary War’s Battle of Long Island up to the park’s establishment by the state legislature in 1859, the original goals of the park included the preservation of Battle Pass and to act as a pastoral island in nineteenth-century Brooklyn. Originally designed by Olmsted and Vaux, the park has changed over the years due to demolitions, new construction and automobile traffic. The park has enjoyed good times with high funding and renewal, as well as enduring funding shortfalls due to the city’s past budgetary woes. Nevertheless, Prospect Park has continued to persist into the future, and the multitudes will need a place to park. By booking a Prospect Park parking space ahead of time with ParkWhiz, you can spend more time circling the vistas of the park rather than circling a parking lot.
