More about Barclays Center
Brooklyn has a great sports heritage, which began with the former Brooklyn Dodgers and extends today to the Brooklyn Nets, based at the borough’s Barclays Center venue. This venerable team can really bring in the fans, so it is prudent to book Barclays Center parking in advance of the game with ParkWhiz. Originally known as the New Jersey Americans and then the New York Nets, the club was originally founded as an American Basketball Association team in 1967, winning the 1974 and 1976 league championships before it became an NBA team following the ABA-NBA merger in 1976. In 1997, they were renamed the New Jersey Nets following a move from Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York to Rutgers Athletic Center, then to Izod Center in 2007 until spending two years at Prudential Center from 2010-12, finally moving to Barclays Center in 2012, when the venue opened to the public. The team and the venue is owned by businessman Joseph Tsai, in addition to the New York Liberty of the WNBA who are also based at the arena. The Nets have won five division titles, with one from the ABA in 1974 and four from the NBA in 2002-04 and 2006. The team also won the NBA Conference titles in 2002 and 2003. The Brooklyn Nets have made six playoff appearances, including two Conference Semifinals appearances in 2014 and 2021. This storied team has a loyal fanbase, so it is important to book Barclays Center parking in advance with ParkWhiz.
